No, I think we’re quite safe. Some of the countries that were infected have now been declared Ebola free, so it’s definitely under control. Even in the news yesterday was the announcement that a drug to treat Ebola has gone to clinical trials so that’s great news.

      Absolutely not!
More people will die of car accidents and all sorts of other common occurrences (that incidentally don’t seem to bother anyone too much) .
Even in the countries where it’s rife at the moment AIDS is probably a bigger problem.

No, Ebola was actually first discovered in 1976 and although it is pretty deadly if you catch it, it isn’t really that infectious compared with other diseases. Tuberculosis is something we should be a lot more worried about, because it is highly infectious and is just about as deadly as Ebola, but it isn’t considered to be as news-worthy as Ebola for some reason. Even chicken pox is much more infectious than Ebola, so I’m really not worried that it will end the world!

No not at all. There’s always some sort of epidemic every couple of years, and we always find a way to keep it under control. Remember SARS? And Bird flu? And Swine flu? They’re not such a big problem anymore – so Ebola is probably the same. And like Alex said, it looks like a drug has gone to clinical trials so fingers crossed we have a cure!
