Wow that’s a really tough question. Annoyingly every cancer is different, not just where you get the cancer but between different patients. So two people who both have lung cancer will be completely different and one may be cured by one drug and the other one it may have no effect.
So a lot of research is being done in trying to identify which drugs will work in which patient. So to answer your question there will never be one drug that’ll cure all patients, instead there will be lots of drugs and what’ll be most important is knowing which drug to use on who.
I’m not the right person to ask for a theory on cancer; it’s too far from my subject. What I do know is that everyday progress is made and new cures or ways of avoiding it are found. It’s impossible to tell though how long it’s likely to take to completely eliminate cancer as there are so many different forms.
