  I always liked maths but wanted to apply it to something practical and challenging. I also always liked physics in general and dabbled with gravitation and cosmology for a while. But around the time I was studying there were lots of discoveries going on in particle physics, which made it rather exciting. Also it involves quantum mechanics, which is absolutely fascinating.
